In one of our recent polls MPSL students were asked their opinion on whether opposition to Obama’s healthcare reform is based on racism. 67% of the students disagree that the opposition is based on racism; 21% believe it is racism; while 12% is not sure. Former President Carter believes that opposition to Obama’s healthcare reform is based on racism. What do you think?
I feel that Obama’s oppositon to the healthcare plan is not racisim. The reason why I believe this is because the majority of people who recieve healthcare comes from a rich family or parents who has a decent job with decent benefits. The rich people is known as upperclass which are the people who recieve very good healthcare. Obama’s positoin is based on class which alot of people go by and i dont think by any way that Obama is being racisit.
The majority of the opposition against Obama’s health plan do not object because of racism. They object because they do not want to pay for the health care of illegal aliens. This is not the same as racism. US citizens should not use their tax dollars to support illegal immigrants. It would be fair for the US to pay for medical emmergency treatment for illegals, but not more. People work hard for their money, so they are opposed to spending it on strangers.
It is not primarily racism that underlies public criticism and opposition to President Obama’s health care proposals. Rather, the overwhelming part of the American population is much more concerned with how the health care reform proposals will affect them. For example, one of the reasons people are opposed to the health care bill, is because they do not want their taxpayer’s money to pay for illegal alien’s health care.
I don’t think that is racism we are passing for dificult time and many people don’t have many to pay health care while rich people do have money, president can’t let people with out health care just because they don’t have money. Rich people have money and they can aford their healht care.
I don’t think for the most part that it is racism but their are some that come off as recist in there actions as in the commet ” you lie ” that was rude and I think that if he was white it would not have happend.
I believe that Obama’s Healthcare is based on racism. I believe that His Healthcare reform is only trying to help those in need no matter what their ethnicity is.
I think that Jimmy Carter is out of line to say that it is due to racism. That is a cop-out because it’s not about that it’s about the people not liking or agreeing with Obama’s plan on healthcare reform. Even Obama says that too. Anyone who thinks it is about racism needs to watch the news and get more informed on todays government because it is CLEARLY not.
