  1. The University of Texas plans to crack down on students who take too long to obtain their degree by implementing a semester cap requirement – which means students are only allowed to attend that university for at most 10 semesters.

Del Bosque said, “If a person wants to learn, then let them learn. Why should there be a time limit?” and I completely agree with this statement. I can also see the semester cap presenting a potential issue by squeezing out students who also work full time to support themselves, while attending classes at night or weekends. Since one of the main reasons for wanting to implement a semester cap is due to students who obtain too many degrees, a way to resolve this issue would be to put a cap on the number of degrees you can obtain at the university, rather than putting a semester cap for almost all students.

  2. Vaitiari Rodriguez

Many students face conflicts between their school schedule and their job schedule .So,Texas University idea of implementing a cap does not seem to promote educational variety neither give students with many choices left.Instead if they want to reduce students stay in the university they should put a limit to the number of majors that a student can’t take .

  3. A semester cap requirement is why the University of Texas plan to crack down on students who stay too long to obtain their degree. They want students to graduate within 10 semesters because some students are taking too long to graduate. I think a student should be able to go to school and finish it at thier fastest pace they can. It does not matter how long they are going to school for as long as they get it done. For example, many student have to work to pay for college and thier bills, so; they should work to pay what they have to pay and attented school as much as possible. They should balance school and work so they can make thier graduation possible.

    1. Discuss the University of Texas plan to crack down on students who stay too long to obtain their degree.
    Setting limitations on semesters taken.
    2. Del Bosque said, “If a person wants to learn, then let them learn. Why should there be a time limit?” What do you think about Del Bosque’s comment?
I agree with his comment. If you are willing to learn then learn as much as you possibly can. It would be another thing if we didn’t want to learn, what would they tell us then?

  5. Karina Cahuantzi

University of Texas wants to set limits of the semesters students are enrolled in. They are doing this so that they can make room for new students. I agree with his comment because students just want to learn.

  6. Oscar Figueroa

UT wants to implement a 10 semester time limit on graduating. I disagree with this simply because I have a full time job in which I work 50+ hours a week and a family. I think it’s very unfeasible for me to be able to complete the same amount of work in the same amount of time as a full time student.

  7. i think the education committee or board should consider the cracking down on students, because most students don’t take college seriously

  8. Putting a 10 semester cap on students would insure that all of them take each semester seriously and use their time at school to benefit them. If they didn’t enforce this there would not be enough room for new students.

  9. Shawntelle O'Meany

This plan would be a good idea, but at the same time I believe it is very strict. It takes longer for some students to get a consept down than others and with this, it would make students really stress on their courses which is really good, but I think there should be a break also. When completed with what is required I believe students should be allowed to continue their studies if one pleases even if it did take a little longer for them to leave to make room for other students. Although if they are done with what is required the room is open for all new incoming students who have to go through the same term.

  10. 1. The University of Texas plan, to crack down on students who stay too long to obtain their degree by implementing a semester cap in which students are only allowed to study there for 10 semesters; therefore, they will need to obtain their degree withing this time limit.

    2. “If a person wants to learn, then let them learn. Why should there be a time limit?”
I strongly agree with this statement because many students have to balance work and school and it can get a bit challenging specially when youre working full time to pay your education and bills on the side. I dont believe a semester cap should be utilized because it is not fair. Education shouldnt have a time limit.

  11. marthelva gonzalez

I do not agree with the semester cap on all students. I would rather have them put a cap on students that are trying to obtain multiple majors;I think that would be fair. Many of us students have other responsibilities besides school, so taking our time is very crucial, they should not put a time limit.

  12. Melissa Martinez

They are limiting a students education to 10 semesters at a university. I think its wrong because all students learn at their own pace and not all have time to be going to school full time. School, work, family and problems get in the way of some students’ education and some have more free time than others.

  13. Diana Aricheta

I agree with Del Bosque’s final quote. It should be the student’s choice especially if he/she is paying for the years he/she spends anyway. Everybody has different ways of studying, situations in life that may affect how fast they can finish their schooling.

  14. 1. The University of Texas plans to crack down on students who stay too long to obtain their degree by giving them a 10 semester time limit.

    2. Del Bosque makes a very clear and legit statement; if someone wants to learn then let them learn. That is of course, if they are making an effort in finishing as soon as possible.

  15. By implementing a semester cap requirement, which means students are only allowed to attend that university for at most 10 semesters, the University of Texas can crack down on students who stay too long. Del Bosque’s statement is highly agreeable. Putting a limitation on education violates the Universal Declaration of Human Rights Article 26 on right to education.

  16. Sandra Brakenbury

    1. The plan is quite simple: students have a maximum of 10 semesters to get a Bachelor’s degree. If you can’t finish in 10 semesters, you’ll get kicked out to make room for new students. However, students with “special” circumstances or with difficult majors, like engineering, can petition for a longer stay.

    2. Del Bosque is right. As long as you can afford it and you remain in good academic standing, what difference does it make how long you take to get a Bachelor’s degree!

  17. I dont think that the semester cap bill should pass. 1) because if it does then what stops other universities from making the same leap toward a semester cap. and 2) because it would be very unjust for a university to kick a student out after they’ve worked so hard and spent years of their life trying to graduate. It would backfire for sure as many outraged students would fight back. If a student wants to take his time, then so be it, as long as they pay their fines and give their dues then no harm no foul.

  18. University of texas wants to put a limit of 10 semester to students to get their eductional degree. In this society this program would be extremele rejected by the people because many of the students have full and part time jobs that makes it almos impossible for students to graduate in 10 semester because of all the expenses they need to cover. Even though its a good idea to increase the graduation and the new students rate. many people would be affected by it for no reason

  19. Jessica Avalos

    1. The University of Texas plans to crack down on students who stay too long to obtain their degree by giving them a 10 semester time limit.

    2. Del Bosque makes a very clear and legit statement; if someone wants to learn then let them learn. That is of course, if they are making an effort in finishing as soon as possible.

  20. 1. The University of Texas makes students pay tuition set at a price, based upon 14 hours of coursework, even if they are taking fewer hours. They are also thinking about the idea of setting a limit on a number of semesters students can stay in college for. They believe the limit should be 10 semesters.

    2. I believe he is correct, but only to a certain point. Many students stay in college way too long taking only very few classes a semester, leaving less room for new students. But, it also depends on the situation of the student, he or she may not be able to receive a degree in four years as a result of learning disabilities or family problems.

  21. The University of Texas plan to crack down on students who stay too long to obtain their degree which students can stay to pursue their degree in ten semester limit is not a good idea to me. I don’t want that University and any other University sets a limited time for students; I believe it is a pressure for student.

The University of Texas plan to crack down I totally agree with Del Bosque’s comment that if a person wants to learn, then let them learn.

  22. Keenan Bautista

    1. The University of Texas is putting on a 10 semester limit for students who are enrolled in four year programs. This will pressure most students into taking more classes so that new students can come to their school. The university says that this will push for more successful students in the long run and would open up the availability for new incoming students.

    2. I believe that if a student wants to learn, they need to do it in a reasonable time. Most students can take up to 10 years, which holds other potential students from gaining admission. I believe that people can finish in at least 5 or maybe 6 years. After that, then there is no excuse and not enough commitment from the student.

  23. Felipe Grimaldo

Implementing a semester cap requirement means students are only allowed to attend that specific university for the most ten semesters, the University of Texas can crack down on students who enroll often. Del Bosque’s statement is highly agreeable. Putting a limitation on education violates the Universal Declaration of Human Rights Article 26 on right to education.

  24. 1. The University of Texas plan that crack down on students who stay too long to obtain their degree is quite reasonalbe, so that those students could finish earlier and use their time and knowledge to serve the community.
    2. I agree with Del Bosque that says “If a person wants to learn, then let them learn.”

  25. poj sirihanyakorn

Every person faces different problems and issues. No one person is alike. I believe that a student should be in college for as long as he or she wishes to be. Just as long as they are paying the tuition.

  26. Lance Kanamori

The new plan is to put a 10 semester time limit to obtain a degree. It will hopefully get students to work fast and harder to get it done. As for the quote, I agree with it. Everybody learns at their own pace and have other things going on in their lives such as money problems/full time jobs or a family. As long as they keep paying their tutiton I don’t see why you can deny somebody and education.

  27. Juanita Gonzalez

Texas plans to adopt a 10 semester limit on how long students can stay to pursue their degree in Austin. I agree with Del Bosque’s comment why not give the opportunity to people who want to further their education, we should be encouraging it, not putting a limit to.

  28. The University of Texas plan to crack down on students who stay too long to obtain their degree because they need space for freshmans that are coming in. What I agree with Del Bosque’s comment because students have their freedom of how long they want to stay and students might have problems of their own which it could take them longer.

  29. By not allowing students to stay longer then 10 semesters the University of Texas can stop from students from staying to long. But i don’t believe that this is a good policy. they already have requirements one must meet to stay in school. If a student wishes to learn then one should be allowed to study. especially if he pays his way.

  30. Robinson Marte

UT’s system only allows a student to stay as long as 10 semesters. Del Bosque should be credited for his achievement rather than criticized. I agree with his statement because he took his time and did it the right way.

  31. Francisco Arias

    1. A plan that the University of Texas want to adopt to crack down on students who stay too long to obtain their degree is a 10 semester limit.
    2. There are pros and cons about Del Bosque’s comment. Of course, if a person wants to learn without a time limit then they can go ahead, but the on the other hand it’ll affect the upcoming students who may not have a chance to pursue their education due to the attendance which will infringe with their education. So, like I said, there are pros and cons.

  32. Many students need to work in order to pay for their tuition in school and because of this they have to part time students, and at times they can only take one class per semester; therefore they take longer in and it’s not a choice is just the only way they can do it.

  33. Katherine Ojeda

1)The University of Texas plans to crack down on students who take too long on their degree by only allowing a 10 semester limit.

2)I agree with Del Bosque comment. I think students should be allowed to learn as long as they want to, but of course there should be limits. If a student is doing great in school and wants to stay longet then he or she should be allowed. If a different student also wants to stay longer but has horrible grades and drops classes then he shouldnt be allowed to stay a longer period.

  34. seong yeon lee

The University of Texas plan to crack down on students who want to stay too long obtain their degree by giving them a ten semester limit.
i agree with Del Bosque comment. if students want to learn, then let them learn.

  35. marilin ramirez

putting a cap on the semesters u can possibly take could be a good and bad thing students we could take school more seriously but bad thing is people stick around community as much as possible cuz its much more cheaper

  36. Miguel Hernandez

When completed with what is required I believe students should be allowed to continue their studies if one pleases even if it did take a little longer for them to leave to make room for other students.
Del Bosque’s comment because students have their freedom of how long they want to stay and students might have problems of their own which it could take them longer.

  37. The University of Texas plan to crack down on students who stay too long to obtain their degree by making it a 3 year degree so they would not stay longer at school because there are some that stay at the school and do not leave.

Del Bosque said, “If a person wants to learn, then let them learn. I believe there should be a time limit yet some like I am is we like to learn new thing which might be helpful later on in life or for a daily basis because that is what happens. I do think Del Bosque’s comment is right because not every one likes to learn and just likes to stick with one thing while in the other hand the others want to explore new things and learn from them to become more wise in life and be more involved with any type of people.

  38. Maybe the university should pay more attention to the early counciling of the students in order to get them on the right path. I believe that they have the right idea but they are going about it in a wrong way.

  39. The University of Texas wants to out a limit to how many semesters a student can spend. Which would be a 10 semester span. For those students that add on other degrees, the University belief is thats great but then maybe they should pursue grad school.

I think that the government is cracking down on the wrong things, libraries are closing earlier, there are less policemen and firemen. Education and saftety are getting cut back while movie stars and sport athletes are getting paid in the millions. If a person wants to learn and wanted to stay in school for 10 years who is anyone to stop them.

  40. Holly Stafford

The University of Texas plans to crack down on students who stay too long to obtain their degree by implementing a 10 semester cap. This cap means that you must graduate and ontain a degree within 10 semesters.

In regards to Del Bosque’s comment: I completely agree with him. It is up tithe individual student to determine how long they want to Be in school. If someone wants to be in school for 10 years, then let them. Each and every individual learns at their own pace; they should not have to feel rushed to gain an education.

  41. cathrina afusia

Texas is trying to put a 10 semester cap. This will target those who are trying to hold out on completing their schooling in a timely manner.

I believe it is totally up to the individual in deciding how long they will take to finish their schooling. Only the individual can take in mind what they have to deal with outside of school.

  42. Sigfredo Corcio

The University of Texas plan to crack down on students who stay wt the University for to long by giving them a 10 semester limit.

I agree with Del Bosque comment There should not be a time limit for education

  43. Seojong Chung

The University of Texas plans to crack down on students who take long on their degree by only allowing a 10 semester limit.

In case of me, we can not take a class what we want because of there are lots of studendts in the school.
So, we have to wait until they graduate school.

  44. that texas university is attempting to regulate how long a student can stay in the university as an undergraduate. this is probably because many students in the school graduate within 6 or more years. i think he is right to say if some one wants to learn then he should be allowed however many time he wants at a school, after all that is my main reason for school.

  45. Maywalida Garcia

The University of Texas wants to implement a new tuition which would make all students pay a flat rate based on 14 hours of course work even if a student is taking less than 14 hours. The university is also considering putting a limit on the number of semesters a student can stay in college, with ten being the limit.

Del Bosque said, “If a person wants to learn, then let them learn. Why should there be a time limit?” I agree with Del Bosque because why should someone limit the amount of knowledge one can receive at a university. Education is a right and should not have a limit.

  46. Jeremiah Bartosch

    1. Discuss the University of Texas plan to crack down on students who stay too long to obtain their degree.

University of Texas is planing a 10 semester cap on education to get your college degree. If it takes longer than that their abusing the system.

    2. Del Bosque said, “If a person wants to learn, then let them learn. Why should there be a time limit?” What do you think about Del Bosque’s comment? I agree 100% with Del Bosque if some one wants to go too school for 10 years they should have the right 2.

  47. by implementing a semester cap req. students are only allowed to go to a university for 10 sems max. to crack down on students who stay too long.

I somewhat agree with Del Bosque’s comment because everyone has a different learning curve. although there are some people who are “dead weight” and stay far too long without getting anything accomplished and are occupying space meant for serious students that want to excell

  48. we all pay to go to college, in some way, someone will pay for you if it’s not you directly. If students want to waste time and money let them, it’s their money and time! Not enough room…build more room…create more classes….there is always a way. as long as you pay …who should tell you how long you should be able to pay?

this is a waste is time.

  49. Bryan Manjarrez

    1. The University of Texas plan, to crack down on students who stay too long to obtain their degree by implementing a semester cap in which students are only allowed to study there for 10 semesters; therefore, they will need to obtain their degree withing this time limit.

    2. Del Bosque said, “If a person wants to learn, then let them learn. Why should there be a time limit?” What do you think about Del Bosque’s comment?

  50. i dont agree with this plan because some students have jobs and children that they need to take care of so they cant go to school full time and therefore it can take time for them to finish school and get their degree. so setting a time limit is wrong.

  51. Fernando Carrillo

I completely disagree with the university of Texas’ plan to crackdown students who stay too long. some students are faced with different responsibilities such as jobs and family which limits their time to be in school, thefore making it much more challenging to finish school within a certain amount of time

  52. Robert W Beaver

I agree with Del Bosque. Students should be allowed to learn if they want to. Im not in school to find a decent job but rather to discover myself, establish my values and become a better person. Education is a tool for helping me get there.

  53. Angelica Castellanos

The University of Texas is allowing students to stay only for 10 semesters.
I think he feels that there shouldn’t be a limit, students should be able to stay in school no matter how long it takes for them to get their degree. Why would they neglect a student from trying to go to school.

  54. 1. The University of Texas plan that crack down on students who stay too long to obtain their degree is quite reasonalbe, so that those students could finish earlier and use their time and knowledge to serve the community.
    2. I agree with Del Bosque that says “If a person wants to learn, then let them learn.”

  55. rhea cuglietta

-The University of Texas is cracking down on students and setting a 10 semester limit to get their bachelors degree.

-I agree with this comment because they should learn as long as they want to. Some people like learning and there should be no limit set for anyone. I mean the money is still coming in for that student.

  56. Adrian Esteves

    1.Setting limitations on semesters taken.
    2. Del Bosque said, “If a person wants to learn, then let them learn. Why should there be a time limit?”

If you wanna keep learning then i think that there should not be a limit. s

  57. Noemi Rodriguez

The University of Texas plans to crack down the system by implementing a cap on the students that are taking too long to graduate arguing that they need to make room for new comer students with the pontential of graudating withing the time limitations.
I agree with Del Bosque when he says that if a person wants to keep learning they should let them, but I also understand the UT’s point of view, I think there has to be a balance for everyone to get an equal chance of success.

  58. The University of Texas plans to implement a cap on the students’ time at their school. They plan to put a cap at 10 semesters.
I agree with the comment, it is the students money and time that they are spending, why not spend all that you want?

  59. Marisu Imperial

The school’s administration adopt a 10-semester limit on how long students can stay to pursue their degree.

I think it really does depend on the student’s status to how they end up finishing schools. Finicial, family and health problems (etc.) can play a role in suspending a student’s time in school.

  60. It seems that the University of Texas in Austin will be putting a task force that will crack down on students that have been a the school longer than the national average.

The comment by Del Bosque’s is how most students will find out will best suit them. People cannot predict the future and to enforce such restrictions would be a very bad move for schools. Most students attending are spending the money to be there so why would the school be applying rules such as those?

  61. that would really suck for the students who have to finish one more year. imagine, sorry students i know you need one more year to finish your major thats been taking you years to finish, but you took to long.

  62. 1. The University of Texas plan that crack down on students who stay too long to obtain their degree is quite reasonalbe, so that those students could finish earlier and use their time and knowledge to serve the community.
    2. I agree with Del Bosque that says “If a person wants to learn, then let them learn.”

  63. Seonghwan Seol

This plan would be a good idea. It takes longer for some students to get a consept down than others and with this, it would make students really stress on their courses which is really good, but I think there should be a break also. Although if they are done with what is required the room is open for all new incoming students who have to go through the same term.

  64. They plan to crack down students with a semester cap. Students can only stay for 10 semesters.

I strongly agree with Del Bosque’s comment because if someone wants to learn they should have the right to learn all they want.

  65. Fernando Garcia

University of Texas plan to crack down on students is to limit the semester a students is enrolled in, being able to enroll in a maximun of 10 semesters. I think this idea is good because it encourages sutdents to get their work done, graduate and move on. It also makes room for new students.

  66. beatriz duran

i believe that students should be able to study as much as they want, maybe it will take more than ten semesters, who knows. getting rid of students trying to get their career stablished is unfair.

  67. 1. The plan is to limit the amount of time a student spends obtaining a degree in Austin by capping required course hours at 12 hours a semester for 10 semesters or 15 hours a semester over the course of 4 years.

2.I agree with the comment made by Del Bosque. The process of learning, whether for a degree or not, is one that should last as long as the student is willing to learn. The cap the university is proposing offers many difficulties to many students, especially those that are attempting to hold down full time jobs or families as well as schoolwork. Regardless of how long it takes, students should have the opportunity to learn all they possibly can. As Albert Einstein said, “Wisdom is not a product of schooling but of the lifelong attempt to acquire it.”

  68. Ryan Matsushima

    1. The University of Texas plan to crack down on students who stay too long to obtain their degree will be limited to 10 semesters. They would have to finish there degree in this time period.

    2. I agree on what Del Bosque said. If a person wants to learn and they can afford to pay for it, then let them.

  69. Gabriela Macias

    1. Members of the Second Task Force on Enrollment Strategy recommend the school’s administration adopt a 10-semester limit on how long students can stay to pursue their degree in Austin. . The reason behind this is to make room for future students.

    2. I agree with Del Bosque’s comments I dont see an issue with it. Were paying for it.. let us take our time.

  70. 1. the school is going to allow students to only be allowed to be at the university for no longer than 10 semesters to acquire their degree.
    2. i agree with the statement, because not everyone has the time and money to stay in school consistantly, i think they should be able to succeed at their own pace.

  71. alejandra castillo

students can only stay at that university for 10 semesters. i agree with del bosque because anyone has the right to stay in school for as long as they want.

  72. I feel at the rate I am going, I’ll be just like Del Bosque. I see nothing wrong with that. I don’t understand why they are making a deal of it given that the people that have been there for years aren’t going to take up many of the Freshman classes anyway.. And isn’t it more money for the schools.

  73. StephanieTapia

    1. The University of Texas plans to implement a cap on the students’ time at their school. They plan to put a cap at 10 semesters.

    2. I agree with Del Bosque, “If a person wants to learn, then let them learn. Why should there be a time limit?”, Because just us know what we want or not, that’s way we should spend as much time as we think we need to success

  74. Jessica Camarena

Once in a life time opportunity if you have the money you should take advantage

  75. DANNY ESCALANTE

The University of Texas plans to crack down on students who stay too long to obtain their degree by giving them a 10 semester time limit.

If someone wants to learn, let that person learn. Knowledge is power.

  76. Joana Ramirez

The University of Texas is implementing a semester cap requirement that means students will only be allowed to attend the university for at most 10 semesters. I agree 100% with his statement. Education has no boundaries and no limits others have the means and ability to speed through school while others cant due to their personal life or whatever it may be. Everyone is different and everyone goes at their own pace.

  77. it is essential for some students to work in other to pay for their tuition, because of this they can only take one class per semester; therefore they take longer periods to complete requirements.

  78. Margarita Alatorre

I think sometimes it is hard to continue the speed at which your going to school and by the university putting a time limit on school then thats not fair because obviously if it was up to that person then they would be done with school in a flash but its life’s many obstacles that could be interfering with school.

And I agree with Del Bosque’s comment that was given because it is true. If a person wants to learn there is nothing wrong with that.

  79. Edgardo Michel

I think that 10 semester is good, so that theirs more room for new students. But their should be a limit too because people may not want to take their time because they can;t take as many units as other students either because of work or their busy doing something else. They shouldn’t but a pressure on does people because it;s just make school harder.
Exactly what Del Bosque’s said; if a person wants to learn let them learn

  80. marco fratantoni

    1. the university’s plan is to do A semester cap which requires you to finish with in 10 semesters.
    2.
i feel that there shouldnt be a time limit because its not there only priority to go to school for the people who are taking so long. and as long as there going to school they should go at their best pace

  81. EdWaRd EsTrAdA

well if there is a plan to crack down on the people that stay to long they should put them on a 3 year plan so they can get out n move on. if someone wants to learn let them learn if they are using school as an excuse then that is their problem if they have the money to back them up by all means continue to study. besides schools should just collect their money an let them be.

  82. Noemi Velazquez

The University of Texas plan to crack down on students who stay at a University for to long by only giving them a 10 semester limit to obtain thir degree.

I agree with Del Bosque comment There should not be a time limit for education but on the contrary, if your going to school for a long time and havent gotten a degree its a waist of time and if on finacial aid, a waist of federal money.

  83. The plan is to a semester cap requirement that allows students to only attend a maximum of 10 semesters to finish up their 4 yr program degree. I dont think its a great Idea and as the quote above if the person want to learn and is paying for school like everybody else, I dont understand why they shouldnt be allowed to do that and continue with their dreams. This doesnt work out for those who have disadvantaged situations.. ofcourse that would push them a semester or two behind and would cause them to cram courses in semesters and result in bad grades which would basically ruin their future. its not a practical plan.. it has too many problems

Although it may sound a little harsh to “crack down” on students who stay too long to obtain their degrees,it sounds like a good motivation for those who slack off on study without any purpose or goal in mind as to what they want to get out of the college experience.

To me, it sounds like an excuse for slacking off. It is not smart to pursue too many goals at a time; he should pursue after one goal first and then, go onto the next one. And if one wants to learn more, there are always other opportunities like community colleges or graduate programs to extend his/her knowledge.

    1. A plan that the University of Texas want to adopt to crack down on students who stay too long to obtain their degree is a 10 semester limit.
    2. If a person wants to learn without a time limit then they can go ahead, as long as they are not wasting they’re time and the seat of a serious student.

  86. Elva Espinoza

The plan that the University of Texas has I believe is pretty unfair but has reasons to have such restrictions. The university should allow students to finish their schooling in atleast six years, with this tough economy people have financial issues and problems that may come through school.

I believe if a person wants to learn they are more than welcome to do so. People that take on four or five majors at the time should consider new students that are trying to attend the school. Students should focus on one or two majors at a time, finish and then go back to pursue the rest of the majors

    1. The University of Texas plans to crack down on students who stay too long to obtain their degree by whats called a “semester cap requirement” that allows students to only attend a maximum of 10 semesters to finish up their 4 yr program degree.
    2. What do you think about Del Bosque’s comment?
I think hes right! why should there be a time limit; i mean your paying to be there. Many people learn different, some learn faster some learn slower. + not everyone just goes to school; many students have to work or have family to take care of.

  88. I think 10 Semesters should be way enough for a serious student to complete his degree. Students have to understand that we have come to a point in this country where job opportunity has become scarce for those without degree. It has caused more people to seek for at least a college degree. So by staying too long in school we are reducing chances to a lot of people to achieve their education goal.

  89. They are going to use something called a “semester cap requirement” that allows students to only attend a maximum of 10 semesters to finish up their 4 yr program degree.

i think that everyone should be able to learn as much as they want. it shouldnt be a problem to learn.

Cracking down on students who take too long is what the University of Texas is doing. In a way its a good thing that the university is doing this because that way these studens dont slack off so much. they have some kind of guidance.
But.. i also disagree because i feel like students shoudnt be limited to learning because there are always those ppl who just take classes for fun.. what about them ??

    1. Discuss the University of Texas plan to crack down on students who stay too long to obtain their degree.

The University of Texas wants to put a 10 semester limit so that their students finish whithin the 4 year gap to obtain a BA. So that the students who are undergraduate finish and take school more seriously maybe, but most importantly so that they leave more room for the new students coming in. Like they said students who might have more potential and take school more serious.
    2. Del Bosque said, “If a person wants to learn, then let them learn. Why should there be a time limit?” What do you think about Del Bosque’s comment?
I don’t think their should be a time limit to education becuase everyone does learn at a different paste and everyone is different. Not only that but everyone has different situations like some have to work full time in order to pay for school and they could only attend school part time. Every student has their own personal reasons why some take longer than others. I think they should just enforced this rule to those students who need it.

  92. The University of Texas plan to crack down the student who stay too long in college is by setting the time limit on the semester that they should take. There is no more than 10 semesters for each student.

I agree with Del Bosque’s comment because each person have different issues. Some have to work to support their families while they wanted to finish the degree. If there is a limit on the semester, it means that there will be more people undereducated. They would choose to work other than go to school since they could not manage it.

I strongly support this idea.. this economy is getting worse so we should study hard and pass the classes before tuition get unaffordable, in the same way finish in 10 semesters or less so that new coming students can have access to classes…

  94. The University of Texas plans pin point the students who stay too long trying to obtain their degree by implementing a 10 semester cap. This cap means that you must graduate and obtain a degree within 10 semesters.

In regards to Del Bosque’s comment: I completely agree. No one should determine how long a student can stay at school. They should not be restricted on the amount they desire to learn. Sure, they should check to see if a goal is to be reached, however there should not be a time limit.

  95. Sarika Vaswani

The University of Texas is requiring a semester cap requirement where students will only be allowed to attend the university for a maximum of 10 semesters. I agree with this. Limitations and boundaries should not be placed on education. Everyone should be allowed to move at their own pace.

  96. 1. Discuss the University of Texas plan to crack down on students who stay too long to obtain their degree.

the University of Texas wants to regulate the time student stay in school.

    2. Del Bosque said, “If a person wants to learn, then let them learn. Why should there be a time limit?” What do you think about Del Bosque’s comment?

Del makes an good point if their is any student that wants to gain more knowledge in life, schools should encourage that not the other way around.

    1. Discuss the University of Texas plan to crack down on students who stay too long to obtain their degree.
The University of Texas plans on cracking down on students who stay too long to obtain their degree by setting a 10 semester limit on the semesters you can take.

    2. I think that Del Bosque’s comment was true, I don’t think that students should have to feel that they should hurry their education. Students should have the right to go through their schooling at their own place.

  98. Jonathan Cortez

The university’s plan is to do A semester cap which requires you to finish within 10 semesters.

I agree no one should determine how long a student can stay at school. They should not be denied the amount they desire to learn. They should check to see if a goal is to be reached, however there should not be a time limit.

  99. The University of Texas plans to crack down on students who take too long to obtain their degree by only allowing students to attend that university for at most 10 semesters.

Del Bosque said, “If a person wants to learn, then let them learn. Why should there be a time limit?” I agree with Del Bosque. Students shouldn’t be denied if they want to learn.
